MEMBERSHIP
The Truckers Association of Zambia
The Truckers Association of Zambia (TAZ) is a membership-based road transporters’ association with various categories of membership on offer. These categories are Ordinary, Associate, Own-Account and Business Partners. While Ordinary, Associate and Own-Account members are transporters, Business Partners offer value addition services to the transport industry.
Our vision is to provide a credible non-political representative voice on behalf of our members. We do this through influencing industry policy, regulation and practice.
Our strategic focus is on the following objectives:
- Strategic Management
- Membership Development
- Business Development (including Business Linkages), Promotion and Sustainability
- Executive Education in Best Practices
- Research and Development (R&D)
- Lobby, Advocacy and Networking
TAZ Ordinary Membership
Any individual, firm or company operating for hire and reward in the road freight and logistics industry can become an Ordinary Member upon fulfilling the following terms and conditions:
- Is established and has a registered head office in Zambia
- In relation to an individual, an individual who is a citizen of Zambia or an established resident who must have been domiciled in Zambia for not less than fifteen (15) years
- In relation to a partnership, a partnership which is composed exclusively of persons who are citizens of Zambia; and
- In relation to a body corporate, a body corporate which is incorporated under the laws of Zambia and:
- Is certified under the hand of the minister to be controlled by the state; or
- Not less than fifty-one percentum (51%) of membership is exclusively composed of persons who are citizens of Zambia or an established resident who must have been domiciled in Zambia for not less than fifteen (15) years; and
- Whose directors are exclusively citizens of Zambia; and
- Which is not controlled by any means directly or indirectly outside Zambia or by persons who are not exclusively citizens of Zambia
TAZ Associate Membership
Any individual, firm or company operating for hire and reward in the road freight and logistics industry which is registered and operating in Zambia but does not meet the terms and conditions set out under Ordinary Membership above may become an Associate Member.
TAZ Own-Account Operator Membership
Any individual, firm or company that deploys its own fleet of trucks and own cargo to move may apply for membership as an Own-Account Operator.
TAZ Business Partner Membership
Any individual, firm or company providing goods and services to the road freight and logistics industry may become a Business Partner. Goods and services provided may include, but are not restricted to the following:
- Body and Trailer Builders
- Business Development Services
- Components and Equipment Suppliers
- Courier Services
- Escort Vehicle and Services
- Hospitality Services
- Ferry Companies and Port Services
- Financial Services
- Freight and Forwarding Services
- Fuel and Lubricant Suppliers
- Information and Communications Technology Suppliers;
- Insurance Services
- Legal Advice and Services
- Trade Associations
- Training Services
- Truck and Van Parts, Rentals and Sales
- Tyre Suppliers
- Vehicle CCTV, Security and Tracking Services
- Vehicle Manufactures, Inspection and Recovery Services
- Vehicle Weighing Solutions
- Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Services
- Any other.
